Rehashed Koko Araisa
Rehashed, reheated, redone - Koko Araisa V2.
I've been working on migrating my blog from SimpleBlog to Quills for a little while now, and finally completed my migration script tonight! The steps I followed to achieve this are as follows:
- Created a migrateSimple2Quills.py python script in my zopeinstance/Extensions folder (N.B. The script will create a new Quills instance in the root of your Plone site with an id of 'blog'. To change these defaults edit the quillsBlog variable in the script).
- Created an External Method in the root of my Plone site with the following details
Id: migrateSimple2Quills
Module Name: migrateSimple2Quills
Function Name: migrateBlog - After saving the External Method I went into it and clicked on the 'Test' tab at the top. This will migrate your SimpleBlog entries over.
- Now go into the Drafts folder of your Quills blog (you need to be in the folder_contents view) and select all the blog entries and click the 'Change State' button. Then click Publish (N.B. You might also need to publish your Quills blog).
- All done!

Food Poisoning
"There's a first time for everything" as the saying goes ... but in this case, I wish that weren't true.
I'm currently recovering from food poisoning after spending most of yesterday with vomiting, diarrhea, headaches and tiredness. The food poisoning came on seemingly after I ate some day old rice we got from an Indian restaurant (needless to say I'm not going back there again). Today is just a recup-day and hopefully will be back to 100% by tomorrow.

Learning Chinese
Progress is slow but satisfying.
We've been going for about a month now but we're both still really enjoying it, though I think Miho is much more motivated than I am. We're going to a night class every Monday night for a couple of hours from 5-7pm, and we're also going to a course organised by the Halswell Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses every Sunday - so double-dose! After we do our lesson on Sunday, we visit Chinese-speaking people in Christchurch and engage in a Bible teaching work. I think being able to practise by speaking to Chinese people is really helpful. The written side of the language is tough, but the language itself is relatively easy - I would recommend it as a language to try out!

Game Nostalgia
I have fond memories of my brother and I playing 'spacies' down at the local dairy; oh, if only I could have those times again - well now I can.
In my cyber travels I stumbled across a Abandonware site, which amongst other things has available for download old games that me and my brother used to thrash, such as Double Dragon, and others. There's also a link to a DOS game emulator that will allow you to play them on your Windows PC. Enjoy!
