Give me a S, gimme a U, M-M-E-R

What does that spell summer!

Finally, a 'true blue' summers evening - clear blue sky and beautiful sunshine. It stayed light until about 9:30pm tonight and was short sleeves weather (even at 10:30pm at night!).
We spent the evening at a friend's house having a 'wine and cheese' evening with some bros/sis from Germany. It was great having a cultural exchange, finding out about Germany and hearing about how similar life is there to here and also about differences too.

Here Comes the Sun - not!

My rant about our Christchurch 'summer' & stuff.

Well I know for sure that George Harrison didn't get any inspiration from Christchurch when he wrote his song - Here Comes the Sun. So far, we've had the worst summer on record. The temperatures have been down in single digits and its been raining and hailing like crazy. I don't like to remind myself that it's summer because I feel like I'm being cheated out of a summer. Hopefully, at the very least, next month will 'sun up' and summer will really begin (fingers-crossed).
I've also been a bit crook lately. My dentist prescribed me some antibiotics which didn't agree with my system and I had dysentry for about a week (fun fun).
We also had another dog (Sakura) come to stay over the weekend and it was funny watching Chocolat and Sakura playing together.

Where Fore Art Thou Scum Brush

Filed Under:

Teeth Woes, Plone-Plone-Plone and a Re-cap.

I haven't blogged in a while, so there's lots to say. On Wednesday I finished my last scum-brush - another wonderful invention from Japan (I wouldn't know how to google for that one, so I'll just explain what it is). A scum-brush has a small plastic handle with a wire at one end with bristles on it to get in to those small nooks-and-crannies between your teeth. We got a packet of them when we were last in Japan, and they've finally come to an end. Cruelly enough, when I went to the Dentist today she told me that I will need to shell out $2000 to fix up my teeth. So I've lost my last scum-brush and my teeth are a mess! Oh well, c'est la vie.
Last Saturday we went up to Lake Coleridge to do country witnessing. I wouldn't say it was a ground-shattering experience but it was nice to get out into the countryside and enjoy the scenery (even though it did hail while we were out there). BTW if you are out that way, I would definitely recommend the Hororata Cafe - they do splendifirous icecreams!
I also spent most of today working on a LinguaPlone site for a customer (I'll unveil it soon). In the process, I did learn that there is a 'settings' tab in formulator that allows you to specify that the form is encoded in 'UTF-8' which will allow you to enter Japanese/Korean/etc characters! Cool, ay. I've also started a 'Techie Stuff' section on this site where I'll chuck any howtos or other helpful stuff I find out during the course of my work/playing around.

I know it's belated (about 2 days to be exact) but hey what are ya gonna do :-)

The next minor release in the ongoing evolution of Plone! Go clog up those download servers. This release, as always, looks great! Just need to make time to upgrade my Plone sites now ;-)

Syndicated Kokorice!

Filed Under:

You can now enjoy kokorice via your favourite news reader :-)

Decided to 'finally' setup an RSS feed for this website. You can point your news reader at http://kokorice.org/blog/RSS and 'Bob's your uncle' you're enjoying syndicated kokorice.
In Plone it is a simple case of clicking the 'Enable Syndication' button in the portal_syndication tool in the ZMI. A 'Syndication' tab will then become visible in all folders, which will allow syndication of the folders contents. Simple as pie :-)
